Even though Mike Laidlaw, the creative director of Dragon Age, has recently posted on his Twitter that Dragon Age 4 “is not a thing,” which left many fans disappointed, he has also added that he has some ideas for the fourth entry of the role-playing video game. “It isn’t a thing until it’s a thing. Right now, not a thing. But if it -were- a thing, there are things I would want to do with that thing,” Laidlaw said.

Taking this into account, we can say that we should definitely expect Dragon Age 4, but perhaps it’s just too early to talk about the release date. There are some speculations which suggest that Bioware just wants to wait a little while before any official announcement regarding the future release because their other science fiction game, titled Mass Effect, was launched only a month ago.

In addition to Laidlaw’s post, one of the actresses who voices a character in Dragon Age (the female Elven Inquisitor) also might have hinted that Dragon Age 4 is in production. According to Isports Times, she posted on her Instagram that she’s “back in the recording studio.” Working on this RPG series or something else? We can only guess.

Following the release pattern so far, many fans expected the fourth entry to be delivered this year, as the first one (Dragon Age: Origins) was launched in 2009, the second one (Dragon Age II) in 2011 and, finally, the last game (Dragon Age: Inquisition) came out in 2014. However, it seems that Bioware shifted their focus to Mass Effect this year, while Dragon Age 4 might see the light of day sometime next year.

All in all, we can only keep guessing for the time being, but we believe the important thing is that you shouldn’t worry about the studio canceling the next entry. The demand for it is rather high and, according to Electronic Arts, the game is the best Bioware’s project so far, so there’s no reason to give up on it. As soon as we find out more, we’ll let you know, so stay tuned.
