Why Don’t Cowboys Go After Darrelle Revis?

The Dallas Cowboys really didn’t do much in the Free Agency when it comes to addressing the holes in their secondary. In fact, all of their players that made some kind of an impact at that position, have changed team and now have a new home. Barry Church, Mo Claiborne and everybody else is gone. That was a strong indication that Dallas was going to go into the draft trying to address those holes that became even bigger during the Free Agency.

One of the guys that are still on the market with no signs of him signing with any team is Darrelle Revis. He is a Free Agent as of right now, currently working out in Florida. He is still on the New York Jets’ payroll as they still owe him six million dollars per year. That means that the Dallas Cowboys won’t be paying him much as the majority of the money that he would receive will still come from the Jets.

Yes, he didn’t have all that good year with the Jets in 2016. There is no doubt that he is on the decline. But, Darrelle Revis is still one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time. Even if he is not good enough to play at the cornerback position, there is no doubt that he would still be valuable at the safety.

At corner, the Dallas Cowboys have a bunch of rookies and guys that need to learn how to play in the NFL. Is there a better teacher available than the player that is considered as one of the best to ever do it? This just looks like a low risk-high reward situation which is why the Dallas Cowboys should pull the trigger on Revis.
