In 2011, Deep Silver published a new open world survival horror action role-playing video game Dead Island, developed by Techland for Microsoft Windows, Linux, OS X, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The game was highly anticipated, as it had been first announced in 2006. It was well received, so Techland got down to work and developed an extension pack, titled Dead Island: Riptide, which was released soon afterward, in April 2013. Then, in November 2014, they delivered Escape Dead Island, the game spin-off. Now it’s time for Dead Island 2, don’t you think? Let’s see what we know about the second installment for now.
In March 2016, Sumo Digital took over the development of the new entry. It is said that, unlike previous titles, this one will be set somewhere in California and it will be set several months after the events of Dead Island and Escape Dead Island. The game will retain some original features, such as the Rage system and Crafting system, but it will be significantly improved, of course.
Koch Media’s CEO, Klemens Kundratitz, has recently revealed that what they are actually working on is a mobile game, but that’s all he wanted to share with us for the time being. He seems rather satisfied with the project and its development. “We’re looking forward to showing off the game to our fans when it is ready. The franchise has our full attention,” he said.
Dead Island 2 Release Date
Dead Island 2 follows what happens after another zombie outbreak when the U.S. Armed Forces have to put California under a quarantine restricted zone. There will be four available characters for no more than eight players in multi-player mode. Unfortunately, the official release date has not been announced yet, but some of the rumors suggest that it might be offered before the end of this year. Should there be any news, we promise we’ll let you know.
