David Leitch Wants To Make Hobbs & Shaw Universe! What Will Happen With F&F?!

The director of upcoming Hobbs & Shaw film David Leitch talked about this project. The Fast & Furious universe is evolving, and for the first time, there will be an F&F spin-off.

The stars of this project will be Dwayne The Rock Johnson and Jason Statham. The action-filled blockbuster is what awaits us with these two actors and Leitch who stands behind projects such as Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and John Wick.

Johnson started promoting this title even before filming began by posting a photo of him, Leitch and Statham on Instagram. Dwayne captioned the photo with: “HOBBS & SHAW. Lotta fun w/ my brothas @jasonstatham & director, @davidmleitch in our production meeting.”

Despite the bad blood between Johnson and some of his Fast & Furious co-stars, Rampage actor can’t hide his excitement for this project. He is also thrilled about the prospect of working with Leitch: “Been wanting to work with David for years now. Very talented and knows how to create and shoot bad a*s, cool and FUN characters. He directed JOHN WICK, ATOMIC BLONDE and next week his new movie, DEADPOOL 2 looks to be huge with audiences worldwide.”

There was some uncertainty about Dwayne Johnson role in the upcoming Fast 9 as he made his feud with Vin Diesel public, and said that he’s not sure if he will be a part of the franchise in the future. But, the last part of his caption gave us some hope that we’ll be seeing Luke Hobbs in the future: “We have a lot of fun surprises in store with our movie and what an opportunity for us to smartly build out our beloved Fast and Furious franchise with our spinoff. We’re pumped to shoot and most importantly, THANK YOU FANS for all the love, support and excitement. Shooting starts this September!”

David Leitch also couldn’t hide his excitement about upcoming Hobbs&Shaw film: “We’re excited about it, Dwayne’s a great collaborator. Jason, I’ve worked with quite a bit in the past, so it seemed like something really fun to dive into. We really want to expand on Hobbs and Shaw’s relationship, obviously, and their conflict. We’re looking to build out their own universe and sort of keep in the spirit of ‘Fast’ and all the things that people love about ‘Fast,’ but definitely give it its own identity.”

The movie production starts in September, while the release date is set for August 2nd, 2019.
