The whole Ezekiel Elliott saga is slowly unfolding and the Dallas Cowboys running back is allowed to play in the next two NFL games. What does that mean for Elliott and the team?
Thanks to the US District Judge Paul Crotty, Ezekiel Elliott will be allowed to play in the next two duels, while the court is waiting for the presiding judge Katherine Polk Failla to come back to work from vacation. Even though this decision is temporary, it means a lot to both Ezekiel Elliot and the Dallas Cowboys.
The meeting between the NFL and Katherine Polk Failla is scheduled for October 30th, which means that we will watch Elliott in the Cowboys jersey. This case is not just about Zeke, as it is about all the NFL players. The NFLPA argues that the career of professional football players is short and that every game counts. This is just one of the arguments why the suspension should be withdrawn. On the other side, the league said that if they allow one player to get away with the suspension, every player will fight similarly in the future.
The NFL doesn’t always need to give a solid case on why a player needs to be suspended, but the question arises about the rights of the ones in the league who do get suspended. Since the court of law cleared Elliott from the allegations, shouldn’t NFL give up on the case, instead of pushing it further?
So far, it is certain that we will watch Elliott in the Cowboys jersey against the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Redskins. The next game for Dallas is in San Francisco, and with Elliott, they shouldn’t have a problem. The 49ers have been struggling the entire year and their defense against rushing is weak, so we expect to see 100+ yards from Elliott. Meanwhile, the Redskins have been the mixed bag so far, as most of the NFL teams, but their defense is efficient.
It is great to see Zeke play in the match against the Redskins, and it is better if he misses the one at home, which is scheduled for later in the season, than the one on the road. After these two games, Elliott’s suspension should finally be enforced, which means that he will not play against the New York Giants. The last encounter in the regular season is against the Eagles, while before that they will face two difficult teams – Oakland Raiders and Seattle Seahawks.
Elliott’s case is vital for both sides. So far, the Dallas Cowboys fans can relieve. At least for the next two weeks.
