Dak Prescott was present at the 2017 ESPY Awards like every major athlete in the United States. He kind of called his shot on a Wednesday night on the ESPYs red carpet by stating that the Dallas Cowboys are going to win the NFC East yet again in 2017. He was successful in his first attempt at the East crown, but will he be able to repeat what he did this season?
“We’re the Cowboys,” Prescott said according to the Dallas Morning News. “We’re gonna win the NFC East.”
If the Cowboys NFC East title defense goes as this guy plans and ends successfully, they will become the first team to go back-to-back in this division since the Philadelphia Eagles have been able to do it back in 2004 when they won it for the fourth time in a row. That was also the year that the Philly Eagles went to the Super Bowl, but failed to capture the title as they have lost to the New England Patriots.
Right now, the Dallas Cowboys are favored not only to win the NFC East but to end up winning their conference and representing the whole NFC in the final game of the year – the Super Bowl LII. Guys that led them to the 13-3 are back while they used the draft to get younger, more explosive in the secondary and to boost their pass rush that definitely needs some help.
If they can stay healthy, they just might be able to do what Prescott predicted and win the NFC East. But, we know that they have much bigger goals in mind in 2017 and that they want to go all the way.
