If you actually follow this show, then you probably know that the Season 2 of the Curse of Oak Island was the only one season that was 100% sure it will return. Thanks to Season 1 spreading like wildfire and picking up momentum, Season 2 was imminent as well as the fact that The History Channel at that point realized that they have a sure winner on their hands.

The Curse Of Oak Island Season 5 Release Date?

All of this was greatly aided by the contagious enthusiasm and passion that came from the Lagina brothers as well as their ability to entertain and capture viewers. That exactly is what brought them here in Season 4, and the atmosphere is pumped as the talks for Season 5 are nearing. But there is a chance that Season 5 actually does not happen, and that possibility comes from the fact that it is very hard to keep the show running for that long when you really didn’t find anything you are intensively searching for.

But nothing is for sure yet, and that is exactly what the series creator Kevin Burns told high ratings. He stated that “Every year the brothers are very reluctant to agree to do any more. This was always a hard sell for them.” Most of you probably think that this is some sort of publicity stunt made to entertain us all and that the Season 5 is a sure thing no matter what, but the reality is something entirely different.

There are more than enough factors that could stop the show completely. The first thing to get straight is that the network approached brothers to do the show, not the other way around, which makes this somewhat more complicated because the entire show’ faith is in the hands of Rick and Marty Lagina. Another factor that influences the continuation of the series is the one that hurts the most, and that is Rick and Marty’s constant absence for 4-5 months at a time away from their families. This is probably (or is going to be) a deal breaker, because family is what matters, no matter how much more money is in the entire show.

The third and probably final thing that can decide on the continuation of the show is its actual cost. Burns stated that they managed to spend $3-5 million for the Season 4 only, which is an enormous amount of dollar bills. You are probably doing the math or asking yourself how much did the Lagina brothers get out of that. Well, the simple fact is that actually nobody knows for sure. At this moment chances for continuation are stacked evenly on make or break of Season 5, meaning 50% chance that there will be a sequel. In the meantime, the Season 4 is closing to its end, and all of us are very excited to see will there actually be something special in the season finale that might influence the further course of the show.
