Cowboys Should Part Ways With Cole Beasley, Not Bryant or Williams!

A few days ago Dallas Cowboys signed Allen Hurns. A satisfying move for the fan base but it raises a few questions. The critical one is: which receiver will lose his job after a new arrival? The current group had five members prior to Hurns deal. Before the Big D franchise announces its 53 man roster, one of WR’s will be out. The receivers corps consist of Dez Bryant, Allen Hurns, Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, Ryan Switzer, and Noah Brown.

When you ask the fans who they want to see leaving the building, they point to either Dez Bryant or Terrance Williams. Dez earns too much, without satisfying production, while Williams doesn’t produce at all. The latter one is team’s No2 receiver whose place Hurns will supposedly take.

But, Williams’ salary is guaranteed for 2018, so Cowboys will probably keep him. Some NFL analysts have a different idea. The man that will be deemed surplus to requirements is Cole Beasley. America’s Team slot receiver has some trade value which Cowboys will try to use. After trading him during the draft, Big D franchise would immediately draft his replacement. Their target is Texas A&M WR Christian Kirk. This player has a visit scheduled with Cowboys in upcoming days. Coaches from Dallas were also present and took a look at him at Texas A&M Pro Day.

America’s Team tried to shop Orlando Scandrick last year during the draft. There’s no reason why they wouldn’t try to do the same this year with Beasley. Cole is entering the final year of his contract. His salary is $4.25 million for 2018. There would be teams prepared to rent him for one tour on these terms. We’re looking at you Baltimore Ravens. According to sources from Star in Frisco Cowboys won’t resign him in 2019 anyway.

Even if Dallas franchise doesn’t draft Kirk, they have Switzer who can play in the slot. They could select Calvin Ridley if he falls to them at No19. Whatever they decide to do, their WR group will be impressive next season.
