We have just received information that BMW will bring back to life the 8-series. And it is even expected to step into the sports car range as it is being developed by the M Division.

In the last report from one of the sources, the 8-series is counted upon to take the place of the 6-series as the top of the line coupe. It might even completely supersede that vehicle, but we think that there is enough room for both models. It will stand against the S-Class from Mercedes-Benz so you have a good idea what kind of competition they will be facing. Hence, it shall be valued a little higher than the 7-series. Rest assured, it will be priced under the Rolls-Royce Wraith which costs roughly a hundred and fifty euros or fifteen thousand more when you translate it into U.S. dollars.

It is believed that this 8-series will be made available in a variety of configurations and with an impressive lineup of engines to choose from. This makes it able to keep up with its competitor, the S-Class. The M8 powerplant had already been considered within the company, and it will be a real masterpiece.

A unit from M5 is one of the best candidates as it pushes 600 horsepower from its 4.4-liter displacement thankfully to its twin-turbo system. BMW had already claimed the M8 label providing the company possibility to release it at a later date. However, it is still quite premature to speculate which engines the company will use for their new 8-series.

Lastly, but definitely not the least, BMW is also considering to put in the market, besides the M8 that would compare with S63 AMG, an 8-Series with a V12 engine. This will be made to contend with S65.
