BlackBerry Ottawa

Trust Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) to setting new mobile technology trends. While earlier it had given digital world, the art of securing communication when on the move, it now appears to have a solution for one other new-age problem: multiple phone numbers.

While not everyone is happy with carrying multiple phone sets, because they have a need to use different phone numbers, BBRY has just the solution – Virtualization of the SIM itself. The solution will be is not its own but that of a SIM virtualization company called Movirtu.

Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) move to acquire Movirtu was largely ignored. It was believed the technology that the smaller company owned was just another component which would allow BBRY to offer enterprises and business a better computing experience. Many believed that it was just another apps and services technology that Movirtu would add to BBRY.

However, Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) will now use the Movirtu technology to help enterprises to better manage devices that employees bring in or the BYOD variety. The technology will also be added to COPE or (Corporate-owned, personally enabled) spectrum as well.

The technology will allow virtualization of several mobile numbers on a single SIM card. However, this will require different kind of framework and BBRY is currently in talks with telecom operators to set up the guidelines.

Blackberry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) will now further enhance enterprise control over managing mobile handset. It will be able to activate or deactivate corporate virtual connections. This could include new connections for just-recruited employees or for one’s who are vacationing.

As per data available, enterprises will be able to activate as many as nine virtual numbers on a single SIM. Blackberry would help in interfacing this with an app, allowing all OS smartphones to be deployed. Therefore, it is as easy as typing out a new cell number on your existing SIM card, for a virtualized use of the number.
