BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Unveils Porsche P’9983 Graphite Priced AT $2000

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) introduced P’9983 last year, and this device is now available in a new color Graphite. The device has been designed by Porsche, and it features keys that are ‘glass-like’. The device, hand-wrapped with leather, is priced around $2000, and comes with a graphite, stainless-steel-color frame made of ‘blackened glass.’

Unique PIN ID

For BBM messaging, this exclusive phone comes with a unique BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) PIN ID. There is a prefix 2AA attached to every BlackBerry designed by Porsche. According to the Canadian firm, the prefix offers a distinct identity to the owners of the Porsche device, making them easily recognizable among the owners of other Porsche Design phones.

According to Blackberry President of Devices and Emerging Solutions, Ron Louks, “the P’9983 Graphite from BlackBerry was built especially for those who strive for success every day.”

BlackBerry has collaborated with Porsche Design for the third time. BlackBerry Porsche P’9983 device was announced in September for the first time. The creator of Porsche 911, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, founded Porsche Design in 1972 after leaving the automaker. A number of luxury goods are designed by the company that includes clothing, luggage and watches.

Battery life not so impressive from BlackBerry

P’99833.1-inch screen device comes with a QWERTY keyboard while the high-end BlackBerry Passport device comes with a 4.5 inch screen and is priced at $600 with a decent enough resolution. P’9983 comes with an internal memory of 64 GB while it has a RAM of 2GB. The battery life of the device is not very impressive, says a report from the CNN. This device costs three times more than the iPhone, but to utter dismay its battery is very tiny and not suitable for any smartphone, says the report. Passport comes with a 64% larger battery. The ones looking for specs in a device will definitely not prefer Porsche P’9983, which is more about a status symbol.

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) began with the turnaround efforts under the leadership of the new CEO John Chen around a year back, and presently is in the mid of the process. Though the company is trying to rejuvenate the handset business of which it was the leader few years back, but the focus has now shifted to providing software and services to business customers.
