BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) BBM Shop completes its one year recently, and to mark the celebrations, the company has come out with a usage statistics. BBM Shops and Blackberry World both celebrate their anniversary together.

BBM stickers popular among users

Stats relating to the usage of BBM Shop have been shared by BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB), including the sales and usage of the BBM stickers. The data shared by the company revealed that since April 1st, 2014 more than 1.87 billion stickers have been sent, including 500 million per month. As per the data, at least 1 sticker per week is sent by the 20% of the users who are sticker enabled. On an average, 10 stickers per week are sent by an average sticker user.

“Expect more improvements to the BBM Shop experience coming this year,” read a blog post by Matthew Talbot, Senior Vice President – Emerging Solutions at BlackBerry.

Talking about the BBM Shop, the data revealed that the total visits to it in the year have been 1.5 billion in number, and the average per month visits are 250 million. BlackBerry Shop, which presently has 250 items in the inventory, is visited atleast three times a week by an average BBM Shop user. BlackBerry also shares a graph to show the rising popularity of the BBM Shop.

BlackBerry to further monetize BBM, BBM Shop

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) almost reached an end of its operations in 2013 as its handset business was on a decline, but John Chen began with turnaround efforts shifting focus to the enterprise software services and security solutions. BBM, the messaging app of the company, is also one of the product on which the company is banking heavily. During the recent earnings call, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB)’s CEO John Chen recently informed that the company would still want to monetize the BBM app and BBM shop.

Despite losing its smartphone market share to the devices running on the iOS and Android softwares, the Canadian company has not dispensed off the handset business entirely, and is continuing with the release of the new devices both QWERTY keyboard and touch-screen. The new devices released under the leadership of Chen are Passport, Classic, and Leap.
