BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Blend, BBM Protected In Race For GSMA Global Mobile Award

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has two of its offerings nominated for the Global Mobile Awards held at the Mobile World Congress (MWC). Like every year, nominees for the awards have been announced, and two of BlackBerry offerings that are nominated are: BlackBerry Blend and BBM Protected.

BlackBerry Blend, BBM Protected nominated

BlackBerry Blend has been nominated in the category of Best Mobile Service or App for the consumers while BBM Protected has been nominated in the category of Best Security/ Anti-Fraud Product or Solution. In the Best Mobile Innovation for Automotive category, QNX-Powered System for Virtual Cockpit in the 2015 Audi TT has been nominated.

The panel of judges at the Global Mobile Awards comprise of more than 300 people belonging to diverse fields such as the experts, analysts, journalists, academics and mobile operator representatives in selective cases. The Global Mobile Awards ceremony is scheduled for 3rd of March, and will be hosted by John Cleese, who is world-renowned actor, comedian, writer and film producer. BBM Shop hit 1B views

In another of BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) achievement, the Canadian firm announced recently that BBM shop has hit 1 billion user views. The company told in a blog post that that since the launch of BBM Shop in early 2014, traffic has increased. BBM Shop is browsed by about 72% of the users to interact with virtual goods such as stickers, music, games and other things.

According to the post, to further monetize BBM, the company will be targeting the average revenue per user and the user base. The company has resorted to cross-platform strategy for increasing its user base, and as part of the strategy it is offering customized BBM apps for Androids, iOS and Windows Phone customers. Services are being offered by BlackBerry to the brands that want make use of BBM as a medium for catering to their customers.

“BBM is going to keep getting better, as we work to make it your app of choice for connecting with friends, family, and colleagues … and increasingly for everything else you do on your mobile,” says the blog post.
