Last year was great when it came to fighting games, and 2017 looks even more promising. Those fighting games that have already been released will receive new characters, stages or modes, while we are also going to see some new releases. Here is the list of best fighting titles we expect in 2017.
Street Fighter V Season 2
The Street Fighter V started off rough, but last year this game was back in shape. The developers, Capcom and Dimps introduced a balance patch and Akuma at the end of 2016, but we expect this game to live up to its expectation this year. This release will have new fighters coming from S2, which will create a new Street Fighter universe. We hope to get some guest characters as the Street Fighter V will be much better in 2017. If you want to play this one you should know that it is available on PS4 and PC.
Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – Road To Boruto
The Ultimate Ninja Storm franchise won’t be with us anymore from this point on, and the 4th installment of this game had Quick Time Events as well as boss battles which made it so popular. Those who have been playing this one ever since its inception will be able to experience the events of Boruto: Naruto the Movie in the game because of the expansion Road to Boruto. The new expansion brings new characters, Ultimate Jutsu moves, which is a perfect way to end the game series. Road to Boruto will be available from February 3 on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Rivals of Aether
The battle within Rivals of Aether connects four basic elements – fire, water air, and earth. This seemingly simple-looking game has mystical animals that fight and this year the title will become officially available for Xbox One and PC. It is so easy to get engaged in this game, and you should give it a chance because it is quite entertaining. The Steam for Rivals of Aether will be launched on March 28.
NetherRealm Studios are the ones responsible for the perfect Mortal Kombat X, and they want to use their knowledge and put it in the Injustice 2. The first part showed a war between the Gods and we were the part of that war. In the Injustice 2, most of the characters return, but there will be some new faces as well. The new heroes and villains are ready for war against a more powerful threat than authoritarian Superman and players will get to enjoy amazing story mode. The new armor system will give the gamers a chance to create alternate characters as Injustice 2 will be available on PS4, Xbox One, iOS, Android and PC. The sequel will be released on May 16.
Tekken 7 finally arrives! So far the fans have been following every information about the release date, and they have been watching the live stream tournaments, and from June 2 they will be able to experience the final chapter of the Mishima Family Saga from the comfort of their own home. The main plot is told through the use of cinematic scenes that will be transitioned into the action. The players will be able to use new moves while most of the familiar characters will return with eight new ones. Tekken 7 will be offered to PS4 Xbox One and PC users.
Ultra Street Fighter II The Final Challengers
Back in 2008, an animated Street Fighter II returned thanks to Udon, which is the comic book giant responsible for Capcom’s ongoing comics. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix took this game and offered it to all of the fighting game enthusiasts, and now Capcom is ready to introduce the version for the Nintendo Switch. The name of the game that will be launched is Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers and it will be the same as the HD Remix iteration, but with the exception of Evil Ryu and Violent Ken – characters that will appear in the new title.
Another game made for Nintendo Switch is called ARMS, a boxing-related that uses motion controls. There are a lot of characters to choose from such as Ribbon Girl and Master Mummy, and they fight in colorful arenas. You as a player will use Joy-Con controllers, and playing this game is a bit exhausting since you need to be physically active. There are some super moves, grabs, and types of weapons that make this one quite entertaining.
Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2
The Xrd made Guilty Gear so popular, as it brought great roster and tremendous graphics, while the gameplay was almost flawless. The Revelator update added more characters which improved this game even more, and there will be another major update this year. The one-armed female samurai Baiken will be returning after a while, and besides her, another Japanese character roster addition is on the way. The Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 will be available on PS3, PS4 and PC.
Gang Beast is developed by Boneloaf, and it is very entertaining multiplayer game. It will officially come out this year, but most of the players, such as Stream PC owners are already having fun. This release is simple as each player chooses one of the four colored gelatinous avatars and all four players are punching and kicking each other without control. You win if you toss everyone else off the stage and there are many stages within Beef City. Gang Beasts will arrive for PS4 and PC.
The published Devolver Digital managed to launch titles such as Titan Souls, Not a Hero and OlliOlli in the last couple of years. Now, they will introduce the new game called Absolver, which is a mixture between RPG and fighting. The game is placed in the land of Adal which is a home to numerous combatants who want a position with the Absolver corps. You are one of those fighters, and you will have to prove how good you are by collecting ability card and weapons. The combat itself looks brutal and stunning at the same time, and this game will be offered to PS4, Xbox One and PC players.
It is no wonder why this game from Blue Mammoth Games has a legit status. Brawlhalla will be available for PS4 and PC, as the game adopts the platform-centric fighting system that became popular with the Super Smash Bros. series. There are 17 warriors, but more will come, and you need to have good reflexes for this one as these fighters move and strike fast. The game should be launched sometime in 2017.
Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe
When the Chaos Code came out, it was a solid 2D fighting game with “authentic” characters. Now the Chaos Code will be upgraded by FK Digital, and it will be called Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe. The game will feature four new fighters two of which will be exclusively made for PS4. The best addition is an online play that will allow players to fight with other people across the world.
Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite
The Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 was with us for a long period of time, and Marvel and Capcom are looking ready to move to the future, but they will be looking back to the roots. Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite will be the 2v2 madness of heroes and villains while there will be different characters to choose from plus the ones that can tap into the powers of the Infinite Stones. This game will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC and it should be launched near the end of 2017.
