Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Watch Could Get ‘Stolen’ Easily

Apple Watch

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has apparently overlooked a key feature, when making its latest uber-cool gadget, the Apple Watch. While the watch has all of the security features which makes it impregnable for thieves to access data, it appears to have no feature which dissuades thieving it.

Coming as surprise, many Watch owners are now waking up to the lack of the ‘Activation Lock’ kind of feature for the watch’s operating system.

Technology speedsters now claim that the lack of such feature makes it easy for a watch thief to simply reset the watch settings and create a new activation from a new iCloud account and pair it with a new iPhone.

For experts in the mobile technology industry, the fact that the watch lacks this basic locking facility is beyond comprehension. Even with the iPhone early models there was no such anti-theft feature and it appears years down the line, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has repeated the oversight.

The Activation Lock feature was first introduced in the iOS 7. It was built to prevent the device from activation after it was reset, without the Find My iPhone feature not being disabled.

The catch here is that the Find My iPhone has a username and password, which superseded factory reset. Therefore, thieves found it difficult to reset and resell.

However, now on the Apple Inc. Watch, history repeats itself. Thieves now have the avenue to reset the software of Apple Watch. They can override new owner settings and move to default settings, by bypassing passcode.

Surely, Find My iPhone-type of feature would soon be built for the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Until then, users will have to make the best use of the available features. The least precaution is to enable the passcode lock, so that in case of theft, personal information is not accessed. On the Apple Watch OS 1.0, it is time to enable all of the privacy protection features, until a stronger anti-theft update is available.
