Apple Inc. (AAPL) Must Launch Bigger iPhone Or Face Consequences [Study]

An Australian study has suggested that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) should increase the screen size of its new iPhone this year else it will have to face the consequences by losing on almost half of valuable prospective iPhone 6 buyers. Experts cited ‘small screen size’ as the major factor for slow growth and launching big screen iPhone is a ‘corrective measure’ that the company should take. This has been confirmed from the results of Australian Telsyte study as well.

iPhone 6 sales at risk?

The prospective iPhone buyers would want the screen size to be larger than four inches and if not 2 on 5 would change their minds as per the results of Telsyte’s Australian Smartphone Market Study. Apple sticking to smaller screen sizes has allowed other smartphone makers and Google’s android to take advantage and it is a need of the hour to design the products as per the market demand.

“The study showed 40 per cent of Apple’s base is at risk if they don’t release a large-screen phone this year,” Telsyte managing director Foad Fadaghi said.

The results from a recent study by Canalys have shown that the demand for screen sizes as big as five inches and above has increased at dramatically high rate of 369% in a short span of three months of current year. Nearly half of all phone shipments in Asia Pacific and more than a third of all smartphone shipments is represented this fact only.

Popularity of larger screen phones

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been facing tough competition from Samsung, which at present is the smartphone market leader. . Samsung phones come in all screen sizes to meet the need of all the customers. Apple has been slow in reacting to this change in demand and lost a huge market share to competitors like Samsung and others.

The iPhone maker is trying very hard to obtain the coveted position and the new device expected to be launched in September third week is already much in demand and is rumored to be loaded with some spectacular features making it different from all the old iPhone models. While all the previous models of iPhone were small screened devices the new one is said to be a larger version. The company is expected to introduce 4.7 and 5.5 inches models later in the year.
