Apple Inc. Approves New Adaptor, Reversible USB Connector Doubtful

Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been rumored of coming with a reversible USB connector and a redesigned power adapter. However, now a report from MacRumors citing a third party vendor Moca.co claims that Apple would probably be ready to launch the new redesigned power adapter with the launch of iPhone 6, but the launch of the reversible USB Lightning Cable will be postponed to a further date.

No orders yet for Reversible USB

No orders have been placed by Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) for the new cable, says Moca.co.

“We are informed by the Official Manufacturer of Apple that the new Reversible USB Cable will not be released together with upcoming iPhone 6,” Moca.co claims. “Apple fans will not be able to get the MFi version of this revolutionary cable from Apple this year but that is not the end of the story.”

The company informed that Apple is yet to approve the samples of the Lightning cable with reversible USB connectors that have been sent to it by the manufacturing partner. No manufacturing orders have been given by Apple for now and it is expected that a long-time period of about seven months would be needed for readying the cables after the manufacturing orders are received from Apple.

Apple approves new power adapter

Moca.co informs that Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) has approved the design of the new power adapter and the mass production is going on. This is an indication that by the time the iPhone 6 is launched the redesigned adapter too will be launched. The existing adapters shipped with the iPhone can support up to 1A of current and the new adapters can support twice of that.

The larger iPhone 6 models require higher power and this might has driven the company to redesign its power adaptor with higher current supporting capability. All the iPhone, iPod and iPad mini models can be charged using the new redesigned power cable.

Moca.co is taking pre-orders for its own versions of the cable and adapter. These will be manufactured with by its MFi-licensed manufacturing partners. The company will initiate production only after a sufficient number of pre-orders is obtained by it.
