Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), through its retail arm, Apple Store, has started offering of a smart thermostat that seems to fill the gaps left by its competitors. Ecobee3 smart thermostat is a connected temperature control device that allows for multiple home heating and cooling controls, according to Apple Insider. The device takes on Nest Protect and Nest Learning Thermostat from Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL), which are also offered on Apple Store as well.

The Ecobee3 smart thermostat is more like Nest Protect and Nest Learning Thermostat in everything expect the ability to allow multi-room temperature controls and virtual operation. At the price level, the device asks for $249.95, just like Nest Learning Thermostat. Ecobee3 smart thermostat can be controlled through Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPhone and iPad devices.

The key highlight in Ecobee3 smart thermostat is that it solves the problem of uneven heating and cooling control in the households. Its remote sensors also allow for virtual operation such that rooms can be kept at the right temperature from any located where there is data connection. Additionally, Ecobee3 smart thermostat comes with energy and money saving abilities, especially when the user is away from home. The device can save users up to 23% in their home heating and cooling bills.

The new thermostat in Apple Store supports 32 remote sensor capabilities over Wi-Fi connections. Ecobee3 monitors home heating and cooling hardware and gives appropriate notification if things go bad. For example, it gives notifications in the event of temperature hikes and also other important air conditioning reminders.
