Apple Inc. (AAPL) Inviting Users to Try New Mac OS X

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will soon bring to the market the new version of the Mac operating system. Before the company makes available on its PCs and laptops it wants the real people to give it a try and therefore is conducting a test of OS X Yosemite in which it will have nearly 1 million participants.

Apple has few instructions

If anyone wants to be a participant in the test drive he or she has to fulfill two requirements as specified by the iPhone maker. Firstly, the person compulsorily needs to have an Apple ID and secondly, he or she should own a Mac running on Mavericks – the current version of OS X. The participants of test drive conducted for OS X Yosemite should refrain from using their main PC for the beta, recommends Apple as it could have lot many bugs accompanied with issues like speed and/or performance. The link for registering for the test drive is appleseed.apple.com/betaprogram.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will be selecting the candidates from among the applicants and will inform them of their selection through a mail after few days. They will also get an invite for downloading the beta seed of OS X Yosemite from the company that has plans of releasing it this fall and all the current Mac users will be eligible for getting a free update.

More features, more fun

Apple had announced lot many new features at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The beta version will hopefully have most of them, but it is very much likely that few applications and services will not perform to the fullest since the beta software is still undergoing development.

Not just the features, but another distinguishing factor of the refreshed Mac operating system is that the company has worked on its aesthetics as well. We get to see a new look of the OS, which has a refined toolbar and new notification-center features along with a new dark mode.

“All in all, they come together for a gorgeous and more usable version of OS X, the best ever,” Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, told developers at the conference.

Though the market of PCs is shrinking and rest of the players are struggling for growth, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has reportedly performed well with sales of Mac run PCs. This motivates Apple to grow in this market, and hence it has chosen to come up with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite.
