Amazon, HTC Working On New Series Of Smartphones (Report)

HTC One

Amazon.com (AMZN) and HTC Corp (TPE:2498) together are developing a new series of smartphones, according to a report from the FinancialTimes. Citing sources, Publication told that both companies are developing devices three of which have already crossed the development stage. Amazon was originally thinking about unveiling the phones in 2014, but according to report it is reviewing its release date.

HTC, however, declined to comment on anything while Amazon said that it is quick and always ready to partner with the carriers and other tech companies.

HTC to benefit immensely

HTC Corp collaborated with Facebook to make first true Facebook phone, but the phone could not take off because of lack of interest in Facebook’s Android home software. A deal with Amazon if true can be a big accomplishment for HTC as the Taiwanese phone maker is known for making some high end phones. HTC is basically lagging on consumer liking compared to other brands like Apple or Samsung, which is the reason why the phone maker resorted to pricy ad campaign featuring Iron Man Robert Downey Jr.

HTC Corp has a long and impressive history of making some of the best hardware for other brands prior to its own phone launch. HTC One phone has proved that the company still has the capability to produce best in class hardware’s even though the sales were not that impressive. Chairman Cher Wang stated that HTC’s biggest challenge over the next few months is marketing and brands strategy. HTC remains financially weak and collaborating with a brand like Amazon can rebound the Taiwanese tech genius from its current lows.

Smartphones from Amazon, a topic discussed earlier also

Amazon phones have been a topic of discussion for quite a few years now, but Amazon, responding to an earlier report, denied that it is offering any phone. The company said, “no plans to offer a phone this year, and if we were to launch a phone in the future, it would not be free.”

Amazon was recently rumored to launch Amazon kindle smartphones in which a user can have 3D experience without the glasses. Amazon is a big brand that can allure customers and the smartphones from Amazon will follow the same pricing strategy as followed by Kindle fire tablet at present.
