At the Amazon Web Services summit that was held on Thursday 9 in San Francisco, Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) announced its new machine learning platform that features faster and smart service.

The new platform was announced by Andy Jassy, senior vice president, Amazon Web Services. The platform offers premium tools for developers. Developers that don’t have any background in machine learning can also use these tools to create smart applications. These applications will help users analyze past trends as well as real time data. The most exciting feature is the ability of these applications to predict future trends.

According to Jassy, many premium clients such as Netflix, Inc (NASDAQ:NFLX) are using Amazon Web Services tools to perform machine learning tasks. It is a complex process; therefore the company has decided to focus its efforts to provide services that will enable rookie developers to build efficient applications. These services can be easily used without need of any specific expertise.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has been handling large amount of data ever since its inception. The company has used this opportunity to develop its machine learning platform. It used its expertise in statistical analysis and web tools developments. The newly develop service will help developers to process millions of predictions in real time.

According to an experiment conducted by the company, this new service could successfully complete a task to predict user gender in record time of 20 minutes. This demonstrated the speed of this service. The tool needs three basic steps to be completed to perform a task. First, the user builds a model in Amazon S3 environment and then he validates and optimizes the model. Then users are ready to make sample predictions. Thus this service reduces the time needed to build complex machine learning tasks.

Amazon Web Services has made a good start by applying the experience they have earned in past few years. However, the company will have to face competition in this field by service providers like IBM and Azure.
