Fi SIM will now be available on other devices other than Nexus devices, Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s Google announced. You can now get a Fi SIM to order a data-only SIM for your android tablet. Surprisingly, the Fi SIM is now not only restricted to Android, some Apple devices can use the Fi SIM.

Other than the Nexus 9, Nexus & and the Galaxy Tab S, the iPad Air 2 and the iPad Mini4 can now use the Fi SIM. For the first time, Apple loyalists can use Google’s wireless service on their data-only devices.

The Fi SIM may work on other android devices, including phones. Google seem to be very sure that it will work with T-Mobile. The Fi SIM will favor T-Mobile instead of picking the network provider with the strongest signal.

Android was quick to point out that, Google will not add any additional charges for any other of your product. The charges for the Fi service are fixed at $10 for every gigabyte. It is important to note that other service providers to charge extra fees per device.

The Fi service will only cost you more if you use data that surpasses your plan. Google will refund the data in case you do not use all of it. Unfortunately, tethering is not possible when using the Fi service. It is always convenient using tablets as Wi-Fi hotspot than using the phone; the battery will last longer when using a tablet.

Fi subscribers can order up to 9 data-only SIMs. People who are not subscribers to the service have to sign up for the early access program on Google’s website. You should keep in mind that it is not possible to subscribe to the data plan without subscribing to the text and voice call plan that goes for $20 per month. The voice call and text messages plan is part of the main Project Fi service available for Nexus devices.

For Fi subscribers, it is very easy to order the data-only SIM. These subscribers need to log in to the Project Fi website. On the website, you will need to click on the ‘account’ and then click on ‘your plan’. After clicking on ‘your account’ there will be an option, ‘add data-only SIM’. By clicking in that option, you will have ordered the data-only SIM. The SIMs will be distributed to Fi subscribers in a few days.
