Briton Jonny Brownlee was too tired to finish the race by himself but his brother had his back as he helped him cross the finish line in a breathtaking end of the Triathlon World Series in Mexico.

It looked like the hot and humid weather conditions were too much for a 26-year-old Jonny who led the race with only 700m left when he started to zigzag. Luckily for him, his brother Alistair was behind him in the third place and he helped him cross the final several hundred meters. When they reached the finish line Jonny was pushed to end the race at second place.

The winner, however, was the Henri Schoeman, from South Africa.

If Jonny won the first prize in Mexico, he would be a world champion, but this didn’t happen. Instead, Mario Mola, who has finished fifth, has a couple of points more than Jonny and he is the overall champion.

After he crossed the line, Jonny collapsed to the ground. He won the silver medal at Rio this year and a bronze in London, four years ago.

Eventually, he was put in the hospital to rest and be treated, but as he tweeted he was ok. Moreover, he posted the video and said:”Normally when you have had too much to drink. This time, it was the opposite #ouch”

Alistair said that helping his brother was “a natural human reaction” and he also stated:”I’d have done the same thing for anyone in that position.”

Furthermore, he said:”He could have jogged that last two kilometers and won the race. You have to race the conditions. I was comfortable in third. I raced the conditions, I took the water on, made myself cool and I was all right.”

The new world champion, Mola declared:”First of all this was not how I wanted to win the world championship. I was already considering that the role of Alistair was to help Jonny. Considering that, I thought, ‘I’m going to be second again, but at least I will fight to the end’. And when I heard Jonny isn’t feeling well, I thought, ‘I need to fight to the end’. We want everyone to be safe after the finish line.”

Schoeman completed the race which consists of 1.5km swim, 40km cycle and 10km run in 1:46:50. The brothers were 18 seconds behind
