The all favorite family friendly show has reached its 600th episode which was broadcasted in the US making it one of two scripted TV shows that have broken this milestone! I sincerely hope that none of you can really say that you did not watch at least one episode of the Simpsons, and I know as well, that many of you grew up with this show and are still watching it!

The only other show that has run for twenty seasons is Gunsmoke which aired from 1955 to 1975 and had incredible 635 episodes tucked in its holster. What makes these two shows different, besides the story and characters, is that The Simpsons have more seasons but have fewer episodes in total. If you recall, this legendary TV Show has started back in 1987 as a series of shorts, but very quickly grew into something more iconic that still takes our hearts over. They were a part of The Tracey Ullman show, and after proving them popular with the viewers, they were commissioned for a series of its own which started airing in 1989.

The episode that is celebrating this milestone is a Halloween special – Treehouse of Horror XXVI. The Halloween specials have become somewhat of a signature for The Simpsons which airs every October and is mostly consisting of featuring parodies of thriller and horror films. This 600th episode brought parodies of The Hunger Games and the Colin Firth film Kingsman.

If, and I don’t know why not, The Simpsons get renewed for another season, then they will most Likely take the crown from Gunsmoke, and it will probably be sometime in 2018 if our math is correct. That is the time when episode 16 of season 29 should be aired. One more interesting thing that awaits us from The Simpsons is the hour-long episode that has been announced sometime in 2017. Really can’t wait to see that.
