- Many offers from division I league came, but he chose to take the full scholarship from the University of Miami. Not long after that, Dwayne was selected in Miami Hurricanes national championship team, this happened in 1992.
- Johnson graduated in 1995 and received a Bachelor of General Studies in Criminology and physiology from the University of Miami.
