When Scott Hall and Kevin Nash left the WWE in 1996, it was enough for WCW to defeat them in ratings. Either way, it was the WWE who had the rights to the characters of Razor Ramon and Diesel and to keep the gimmicks fans loved, Jim Ross reintroduced those two characters on September 23, 1996.
And since he was backed up by the two new characters, Jim Ross verbally attacked Vince McMahon, outing him as the Chairman of the WWE. He wanted to take down the company because he was not treated with respect and that was the reason why other stars left WWE. This was short-lived, and the heel turned was quickly abandoned.
