The first ever Ford Bronco was introduced in 1966, and since it had no predecessor, everything had to be conceived from the chassis up. Under the hood was a 170ci 6-cylinder engine initially, but they were replaced with the 289ci V8 units. These were similar engines to those in the Mustangs, except that they came with an off-road carburetor, whereas the complete output was 200 hp and 282 lb-ft of torque. With the flat glass and straight bumper, the Bronco pretty much immediately became an iconic vehicle.
