2019 Buick Regal GS Sportback Has Been Spied

For 2018, Buick is going to introduce a bigger and more upscale Regal model. This vehicle is available in liftback and wagon body forms in the United States, versions which are known as the Regal Sportback and Regal TourX respectively. On the other hand, the traditional sedan that is offered in China cannot be found in the dealerships in the States.

Furthermore, the sporty Buick Regal GS version is not available at the moment, but it will arrive soon. The GS model has been caught on camera undergoing some tests. It becomes clear immediately that the spied car is, in fact, a Regal GS Sportback because of the aggressive front bumper design, but what also gives it away are enlarged wheels, subtle aero kit and square-shaped exhaust tips. Based on the leaked photos of the Regal GS sedan intended for the Chinese market, we can get the idea of what to expect.

However, we cannot know what lies under the hood, though. Something appeared on Buick’s Canadian website in April suggesting that the Regal GS would sport a 3.6-liter V6 unit that would send power to all four wheels, but the information was almost immediately removed. The leak we were able to see showed what we could hope for, a setup that will be offered in the Australian NG-series Holden Commodore.

Speaking of the Commodore, its V6 is going to produce 308 horsepower and be connected to a 9-speed automatic transmission, but there is a possibility that the 2019 Buick Regal GS will have more power. The current model is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 good for 259 ponies.
