2018 Volkswagen Arteon – What Do We Know So Far?

The successor of the CC sedan will be the new 2018 Volkswagen Arteon. The name was confirmed back in November by the German carmaker. We could also see the prototypes already being tested on the streets, and although they are camouflaged, we expect a more handsome design of the new vehicle.

When the Sport Coupe GTE concept was presented at the 2018 Geneva show, it made it clear that the Volkswagen plans a dynamic look for the new Arteon. The reason for this is to make a clear boundary between Arteon and the Passat which is sold outside the US, the two cars with the same platform.

The new vehicle will be based on a flexible MQB platform which will be stretched, so the length of the new car should be about 190 inches, whereas the wheelbase will be 119 inches. This is important because there will be more room inside of the new model and the passengers will feel more comfortable compared to the current car.

The Sport Coupe GTE concept had a plug-in setup, and under its hood, you can find a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine which is combined with two electric motors. However, the production Arteon will most likely get a turbocharged 1.4-liter I4 unit with only one electric motor.

2018 Volkswagen Arteon Release Date

The 2018 Volkswagen Arteon will be introduced at the 2017 Geneva auto show in March, but there is a debate going on whether this model should reach the coast of the USA. We would certainly like to see Arteon go on sale in the States. There has been a rumor about the wagon version, but we shall wait and see what happens.
