The new Mercedes S-Class has been spied numerous times so far, but the latest shots have helped us discover what is inside the vehicle and how the cabin looks. To be more precise, the center console and the dashboard are clearly seen, so we will start analyzing from here.

The first thing we notice is that the central rotary dial which was used to operate the infotainment system has been removed. Just for comparison, you can take a look at the 2014 S500 which has a dial.

However, this may not be the production version of the car, considering that the rotary element can be found on the recent S-Class Cabriolet and W213 E-Class. This rotary element is some sort of a trademark of the company, so perhaps, they are just experimenting. Moreover, another S-Class that was spied before did contain this dial.

Anyway, the engineers from the Mercedes-Benz may have decided that the mechanical component was unnecessary and that it is time to install a touch-sensitive pad. If that is the case, drivers will have to get used to the new pad, but luckily this is not too big a change.

The more drastic change has to do with the instrument cluster. However, the instrument cluster will be combined with the infotainment system adding both to the same bezel. The ongoing model developed a strongly artificial image which was accepted by the many, but the Mercedes decided to change that, by putting the two elements together.

Stay put for more details and updates.
