The 2018 McLaren 720S is supposed to be presented at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, but prior to that event, it was unveiled on the Instagram without covers. The photo was posted by GodSpeed EDC, and everything about the new McLaren 720S has been revealed.
On the image, we can clearly see the car and before the analysis, just take a look at the people in the background. These people are taking photos even though this vehicle has not been officially revealed yet and no wonder someone posted it on the Instagram. Although the picture is not perfect, this is the first one and the only one so far on which we can see the 2018 McLaren 720S.
First of all, the paint of the car is Volcano Orange which is an optional color on the 650S model that will be replaced by 720S. It is a bit difficult to see, but the brake calipers are also orange, whereas black and carbon fiber can be found on the front fenders, roof, side mirrors and the rear fascia. The new version looks aggressive and beautiful but different from other McLaren vehicles.
Distinctive design that starts from the iconic shape of the headlights over the curvaceous roofline to the rear end definitely indicates what we will see on some future models from this company. Speaking of new cars, McLaren confirmed the three-seater hyper-grand tourer codenamed BP23.
We can also see the two separate vents in the doors which should improve the aerodynamics of the 2018 McLaren 720S. The rear wing is manufactured in that way to act as an air brake during turns at higher speed, as we can see in the previous teaser. Also, the 720S will be 18 kilograms lighter than the 650S while the total weight of the new vehicle will be 1,283 kg or 2,828 pounds.
When it comes to the engine, there are two possibilities – a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 or a 4.0-liter unit that will replace the twin-turbo. These are just rumors according to which, the powerplant should produce 720 PS or 710 hp. If you take a look at the name “720S”, this is what we expect.
