2018 Mazda CX-8 Three-Row SUV Teased

Mazda really prolonged its campaign for the CX-8, and the Japanese carmaker published a teaser photo three months ago. Now, they have just released a new teaser which shows us the side profile of the car that reminds us of the CX-9. The first image revealed a three-row seating arrangement, while now, with the second one out, the Mazda fans will struggle to differentiate the CX-8 from the CX-9 which is wider and higher.

The new 2018 Mazda CX-8 will be 6.9 inches shorter than the CX-9, but Mazda decided to incorporate the same 115-inch wheelbase as the one on the CX-9. This vehicle will be restricted to Japan, unlike the CX-9 which is going to be offered anywhere except in its home country. The CX-8 is not the only one SUV produced by Mazda that is sold in just one country since the CX-4 is available only in China.

We don’t know much about the 2018 Mazda CX-8 at this point except that it will be offered in Japan with a 2.2-liter turbodiesel unit while its larger sibling CX-9 will come with a 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.

Even though we are skeptic about seeing the CX-8 model in some other countries except the Land of the Rising Sun, we are going to wait for the official announcement. However, don’t hold your breath as it makes no sense for the carmaker to offer it alongside the CX-9 because of the overlap.

The 2018 Mazda CX-8 is going to be unveiled in the upcoming weeks while it should go on sale in Japan at the end of this year. The pricing is unknown at this point, but it should be confirmed closer to the reveal. Follow us for more details about the Mazda CX-8. Do you like the new model seen in the teaser photo?
