The 2018 Maserati Levante S was a mystery up until recently when we have found out first details about the new model just ahead of the introduction to the Australian market. According to the company, the Levante, which is the first SUV produced by Maserati, has increased the sales by 50% so far, this year, and the new petrol engine powered model should only contribute to this fantastic result.

The 2018 Maserati Levante S is equipped with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that produces 316 kW and 580 lb-ft of torque, which makes it far more potent than the diesel. Just for comparison, the diesel version delivers 202 kW and 600 Nm of torque.

The 3.0-liter petrol unit is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission sourced from ZF which routes power to all four wheels. The new Levante S with the petrol powerplant reaches 62 mph in 5.2 seconds compared to the diesel-powered model which is 1.7 seconds slower. Moreover, the limited top speed of the new car is 264 km/h, and although slightly slower, diesel is also very good with a max speed of 230 km/h. As you can see, the version with the petrol unit is much more potent, and we cannot wait to test it on the road.
