2018 Jeep Cherokee Comes Without Split Headlights?

Jeep Cherokee is three years old and the time has come for this model to receive a refresh so that it can continue to compete with the fierce rivals. It appears that Jeep is preparing a major update and according to the spy photos, two prototype Cherokees are currently on the road, undergoing some tests.

The prototype is heavily camouflaged with most covers being placed at the front and rear end, while an undisguised mule with the ongoing body clearly shows new radar sensors. Based on these photos, the Jeep Cherokee’s current split headlight design might ultimately go away.

What we can also recognize is a redesigned accent light in a similar position as the one on the ongoing model. The 2018 Jeep Cherokee has the radar sensors in the place of square-shaped main headlamps which means that the company would have to move the lights higher in the bumper for the sensors. Furthermore, the rear end of the new model is expected to be almost entirely different. The American carmaker decided to move the license plate mounting point from the rear bumper to the rear hatch, and it probably has something to do with the radar sensors. The undisguised test mule shows that the line of sensors is right in line with the license plate, but this move should also help break up the large piece of sheet metal in the hatch.

The side section of the vehicle remains unchanged, but as we have had a chance to see, the front and the rear will be heavily redesigned. It is hard to tell whether there are any other changes due to the camouflage, but stay tuned for more details.
