Recently, Hyundai has been putting a lot of work in their vehicles. They have launched the Genesis luxury brand, while some of the company cars have entered the process of upgrading and refreshing. At the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, the automaker from South Korea introduced the redesigned Elantra GT, which now look even better, and soon we expect to see 2018 Hyundai Sonata that is going to look sportier than ever.

Design

Hyundai posted some teaser photos on social media websites and based on these sketches we can see what the new model is going to look like. On the images, both regular and the sporty Sonata Turbo have been shown, and there is also the ongoing model that will help you distinguish between the vehicles. Just for the record, the currently available Sonata Turbo goes by the name Sonata Sport 2.0T. in the United States.

The upgraded version will take some of the parts from both Elantra and Accent models, while the headlights of the new vehicle will be almost identical to the ones of these two cars. However, the interior will definitely differ, but it is too early to say by how much.

Powertrain

The mechanical tweaks remain unknown as well. Rumor has it that the 2018 Hyundai Sonata may come with a new eight-speed automatic transmission instead of an ongoing six-speed auto. What is also speculated is that a new turbocharged 2.0-liter I4, which is currently developed by the Hyundai N performance division, may find its way to the new Sonata Turbo.

2018 Hyundai Sonata Release date

The refreshed version will be revealed to the public later in 2017 as a 2018 model year. The 2017 New York Auto Show in April will probably be the place where Hyundai will unveil the new vehicle, but this has yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for more details.
