2018 Honda Civic Type R Nurburgring Engine Testing

According to what we have seen in past months and more recently on 2016 Paris Motor Show, 2018 Honda Civic Type R is going to be one of those cars that look much better when in motion rather when standing still. We are saying this with full respect to the design that is amazing in whichever way you approach it.

What was presented in Paris was a prototype of future Civic Type R, but we are sure that it’s 99% close to what will production model look like. At least for the European market. Official U.S.A. presentation is scheduled for a later date, and it will most likely happen at the SEMA auto show or in L.A. later this year. Small differences in design between Europe and the U.S. are quite possible.

After the prototype presentation in Paris, Honda immediately continued with conducting the tests regarding the powertrain and handling. Models that are being used for testing are still under wraps and lots of camouflage so we are assuming that some changes compared to the prototype are still possible. Just a couple of days ago 2018 Civic Type R was spotted on Nurburgring track trying to bring out the best out of Civic’s engine.

2018 Honda Civic Type R – Making laps in Nurburgring

Although the audio sound is not the best possible, it is clear that 2018 Honda Civic Type R will have something to be proud of under the hood.

Official information regarding the powertrain have not been disclosed by Honda, but there are a lot of assumptions. One of the most frequent options mentioned is a 2.0-liter four cylinder turbocharged engine which will provide power in a region of 300-345 hp. Whether this will turn out to be true remains to be seen, but we can enjoy the sound nevertheless.

Here is the video. Enjoy, we certainly did!
