Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis is working really hard lately, and the new model called G70 has been caught on camera in prototype form. It is a small sport sedan we are talking about, and it will join the larger G80 and G90, all of which will be presented by the end of this year.

The new 2018 Genesis G70 was previewed back in March last year when Genesis introduced the New York concept, but the production version has not taken a lot of design cues from this really stunning concept vehicle. The front end reminds us of the Lexus IS, whereas the rear segment looks like a Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Luckily for the fans, Genesis decided to keep the long hood and expansive dash-to-axle ratio of the concept.

The G70 is going to have a tough job out there as it will compete against some of the best – The BMW 3 Series and the aforementioned C-Class. However, there are other rivals which are lurking from behind such as Acura TLX, Jaguar XE, Lexus IS, Volvo S60, Lincoln MKZ, Cadillac ATS and many others.

So, what it takes for Genesis G70 to stand out in such a special crowd? Well, Genesis will focus on value, which doesn’t mean low prices. Instead of that, the luxury brand will offer you generous warranty and maintenance plans that look something like this – 5-year new-vehicle warranties plus 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranties. When it comes to the price, expect the Genesis G70 to start at about $35K.

Furthermore, the 2018 Genesis G70 is going to have impressive dynamics with the RWD as standard, but AWD will be available for anyone who prefers this configuration. There will be only one transmission – an eight-speed automatic. The entry-level will feature a turbocharged I4 engine whereas the brand will offer hybrid which is going to combine the I4 and an electric motor and this was previewed by the New York concept which had a complete output of 241 hp. The range-topping version will be equipped with a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 that generates around 365 hp.
