Ford has upgraded the Mustang for the European market as the new version sees improvements in styling, suspension, interior, engine, and exhaust. Under the hood, the new 2018 Mustang’s 5.0-liter V8 and 2.3-liter Ecoboost engines have been tuned. The former will now produce 444 bhp, which is a 34-bhp increase. This should also improve vehicle’s acceleration and top speed, so expect the Mustang to be faster than 4.8 seconds from 0 to 60 mpg and reach more than 155 mph. The latter has lost 27 bhp, and it now delivers 286 bhp.

The performance boost on the 5.0-liter unit is achieved through a higher redline together with the company’s dual-fuel high-pressure direct injection and low-pressure port injection. Even though the official torque figures are not out yet, Ford claimed that torque has also been improved as well.

According to Blue Oval, they had to reduce the power output of the Ecoboost because of the increased back pressure within the exhaust. Even though the fewer ponies are produced by this powerplant, performance is not affected due to the addition of an over-boost function and Ford’s new ten-speed automatic transmission, which is combined with both engine options, by the way. The American carmaker says that both acceleration and fuel efficiency are better because of the new gearbox, but the six-speed manual is still available for those who prefer to shift the gears and it now comes with a twin-disc clutch and dual-mass flywheel. Also, the 2.3-liter Ecoboost unit now comes with Electronic Line Lock so that the owners could do burnouts in order to warm their tires and it has a video game-like graphics once you select the mode and it is displayed on the new 12.0-inch LCD.

Interior Changes

Some of the interior changes include the addition of soft-touch plastics on the center console and doors, standard LED lights, and adaptive cruise control. Among other features, we have a lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and other safety goodies. The new Mustang receives Ford’s Magneride dampers as an optional piece of equipment, and according to the automaker, this should improve the ride quality of the car. The engineers modified the standard shock absorbers as well, which means that the new models will be more stable with body roll reduced to the minimum with anti-roll bars.

Outside, the hood has been lowered whereas vents have been integrated into it, giving the car a handsome appearance. The rear end has also been redesigned, as well as the grille which will be slimmer from now own. Ford leaked the car design in January when they posted a promotional video for the new Mustang launch in the United States.
