The 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast has been officially presented just ahead of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. This previous model was dubbed Ferrari F12M, and now it is obvious that this is not just a facelift of the current F12, but Ferrari decided to produce a completely new model. This new car should mark the beginning of a new era for the V12 powered supercar manufactured by the Italian carmaker.

What Is Under the Hood?

How fast is the Ferrari 812 Superfast? First of all, you should know that it is powered by a new 6.5-liter V12 engine that produces a fascinating 789 horsepower at 8,500 rpm. Because it is mid-front mounted, the V12 has an authentic position in the market, which is rather different from the other luxury GT vehicles out there. The maximum torque that is produced by this beast is 718 NM or 530 pound-feet of torque at 7,000 rpm, while it can go from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds with the top speed limited to 340 km/h.

Enhancements and Weight

In order to boost the performance figures, the engineers used a 350 bar direct injection system, as well as a variable geometry intake track, which has been developed using the naturally-aspirated F1 powerplant technology. The engine in the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast is connected to a dual-clutch transmission with new gear ratios, a sharper throttle response and reduced shift times. The curb weight of the car is 1,525 kg, whereas the weight distribution is 47-53% front-rear.

Innovations

Even before the Ferrari 812 Superfast was unveiled, we could have guessed that it will come with a four-wheel steering system named Virtual Short Wheelbase 2.0 system (PCV). What is specific about this Superfast model is that it is the first Ferrari ever that features Electric Power Steering (EPS) which is paired with the modern 5.0 version Side Slip Control (SSC) developed by the company itself.

Exterior Design

Ferrari Styling Centre was responsible for the styling of the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast, as the car boasts a classic front engine V12 shape which reminds us of the design of the 1969 365 GTB4. With the shorter tail, this vehicle looks so muscular and aggressive, while at the front end, it features sharp LED headlights and the modified fender air intakes which are integrated with the wheel arch.

The rear end comes with four round taillights, and it has a lower and broader stance. The color of the exterior is called Rosso Settanta, and it is used to mark the 70th anniversary of the company.

 Ferrari 812 Interior

Every V12 Ferrari offers comfort and luxury space inside the cabin, and this one is no exception. In order to give this car new fresh look, the dashboard goes around the central air vents, while the best parts and features are sports seat, brand new steering wheel, and the latest infotainment system. Overall, there haven’t been any radical changes to the interior, only now we can see two round A/C vents instead of three in the center stack and some of the new controls installed in the dash from the passenger side.

Speaking of the new steering wheel, it comes with a revised center section that is produced out of aluminum and a wider, flat-bottom side. There are some red details in the cabin for a nice contrast, and thus the steering wheel also features red stitching, but you can choose different color instead of red.

2018 Ferrari 812 Price

The starting price of the 2018 Ferrari 812 Superfast has not been officially announced yet, but we expect it to be more expensive than the current model. The F12 Berlinetta costs $325,000, so the new supercar, without any additional options, should start at about $340,000. This vehicle brings more aggressive design, and its power output is remarkable. Furthermore, the new electronics improve the stability and handling that was already on the highest level. The downsides are definitely the price, and even though it is fast, it may not be quicker than the 911 Turbo S.
