2018 Audi Q8 Concept was presented at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show, and it should come to the factory lines in 2018. The production model will also be named Q8, and it has already been spied, but due to its heavy camouflage, we could only conclude that it would take most of its lines from the concept.

This concept brings changes for Audi, and the first thing we notice is the single-frame grille, which is wider than on the other Q models and it also boasts more vertical elements than horizontal. According to the German carmaker, the sports car called Quattro from the 1980s borrowed some parts to the new model such as wide and flat C-pillars and the flared shoulders above the wheels.

With its 16.5 feet in length and almost 10-foot long wheelbase, the concept offers plenty of space, and it is similar in size to the Q7. These two vehicles are based on the same platform, but the Q8 comes with coupe-like proportions instead of Q7’s boxy design.

2018 Audi Q8 Specs

Under the hood lies a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine combined with an electric motor and the output of the whole plug-in system is 442 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the electric motor is powerful enough for you to drive all around the town. The electric power range is estimated to 37 miles, while Audi claims that the car can go from 0 to 62 mph in 5.4 seconds.

Inside, the concept is equipped with the dash layout and new interface, which will also be in the production model. You can see the information and commands on touch displays, but there are also a digital instrument cluster and head-up display, which projects important info onto the windshield for the driver to see. For instance, a navigation arrow appears in the same position as the one on the road, and that is amazing.

Stay tuned for more details.
