Aston Martin has replaced its iconic DB9 with the DB11 which is currently available at the dealerships, but you can only find it in coupe form. However, in spring of 2018, the British carmaker will introduce a convertible version called Volante and those people who enjoy driving with the top down, will have a chance to do so.

We had an opportunity to get a sneak peak of the new DB11 Volante last year, but now, this model has been caught on camera in high-speed runs at the Nurburgring. One of the biggest rivals of this vehicle will be the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster.

The latest grand touring convertible will come with a soft-top, which compared to a retractable hardtop takes up less room when you fold it. Choosing the soft-top over a hardtop retractable roof allows engineers to keep that sleek shape of the coupe and reduce some weight as well.

The 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante is going to be the same as the coupe version with the only difference being the aforementioned roof. Otherwise, the construction of the Volante will be made out of aluminum and carbon fiber, whereas the interior will be plain but beautiful.

Under the hood, we expect to see a 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine that delivers 600 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque as standard, but that is likely to change by the time the car goes on sale with the introduction of the V8 unit for the base trim (V12 will be offered for upper trims). The DB11 prototypes are equipped with a 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 powerplant from Mercedes-AMG.

2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante Release Date and Price

The 2018 Aston Martin DB11 Volante is expected to make an official debut late this year, or at the beginning of 2018. The convertible will be slightly more expensive than the coupe which costs $211,995. Stay tuned for more details.
