2018 Alpine A110 Premiere Edition Will Face Fierce Competition

One of the most memorable sports cars that were launched this year is the Alpine A110. It marks a comeback of the Alpine brand, and we are finally going to see the model after three years of development. The debut didn’t disappoint, and the reception was positive, and now, we switch our focus to the first special edition of the A110 – the A110 Premiere Edition, which will be revealed later this month.

The Premiere Edition will have all the fancy equipment that the standard version didn’t have, and most of the updates will be purely cosmetic. The 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is still going to produce 252 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque, which is impressive for a sports car with a 4-cylinder unit. Only 1,955 examples will be built, which references the year when Alpine was established.

The vehicle will come in three different color options such as Alpine Blue, Noir Profound and Blanc Solaire, while it will also receive a set of 18-inch forged alloys in matte black color. Inside, we expect excellent leather upholstered lightweight Sabelt seats, matte carbon fiber accents and “tri-color” red, white, and blue badges which represent the French flag. The passengers will be able to relax due to a Focal audio system.

2018 Alpine A110 Premiere Edition

The Alpine A110 Premiere Edition will stick to the styling characteristics of the A110 and the four-headlight configuration at the front section will be kept. In the limited model, the cabin is similar to the one in the standard edition, but the engineers will try to add a premium feel to it with carbon fiber. As we have already mentioned, there will be no performance improvements, and the engine will still develop the same amount of horsepower. This means that the A110 Premiere Edition will go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds while the top speed will be limited to 155 mph.

The starting price of the Alpine A110 Premiere Edition will be $66,630, but unfortunately, the car will not be sold in the US. There are some ways for the car to reach the shores of the US, such as aftermarket, but that would increase the price significantly. Now before we wrap this up, three competitors will challenge the Alpine A110 Premiere Edition. Let’s take a look.

Alfa Romeo 4C Launch Edition

This model debuted in 2016 after years of development, and it is a direct rival to the new Alpine. Just like its competitor, it also comes in a variety of colors, while it sits on 18- and 19-inch wheels in the front and rear, respectively. Outside, you can see a carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit and side mirror covers, whereas inside, there are Alcantara-dressed sports seats and red stitching accents throughout the cabin.

Audi TT Lighting Style Edition

The Audi TT Lighting Style Edition was released last month, and it is limited to Japanese market only. Just like the others, this special edition model comes in series of colors such as Glacier White Metallic, Mythos Black Metallic, Tango Red Metallic, Vegas Yellow and Scuba Blue Metallic. It is equipped with a black front grille, a platinum gray rear diffuser and LED headlights.

Porsche 718 Cayman

If the new Alpine A110 wants to leave a trace in the segment, it has to beat the Porsche 718 Cayman. It is one of the most popular sports cars in the world, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 good for 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, Porsche also offers the “S” version which has an even larger engine – 2.5-liter I4 – that generates 350 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque. Alpine will have a difficult uphill battle with the Cayman.
