The nominees for this prestigious award have been announced and Kia and Audi will compete in most categories.
It was 2004 when a non-profit committee of automotive journalist from different countries organized this award. To win the award, the car must be on the market in at least two different continents or five countries.
Mazda MX-5 Miata was the winner of the 2016 World Car of the Year. The 2017 New York Auto Show is the place where we will know the winners, but before that top three finalists will be known in Geneva.

2017 World Urban Car of the year nominees are: BMW i3, Ford Ka+, Smart Brabus, Smart Cabriolet, Suzuki Ignis, Suzuki Baleno, Citroen C3 and Citroen E-Mehari.
2017 World Green Car of the year nominees are: Chevrolet Bolt, Chevrolet Malibu, Kia Niro, Tesla Model X, Hyundai Ioniq, Audi Q7 e-tron 3.0 TDI, Toyota Prius Prime, Toyota RAV4, BMW 740 e iPerformance, Honda FCV Clarity and Mercedes GLC 350 e.
