The proof that German automaker does not waste time is the sighting of the GT Concept based prototype prancing around streets in testing purposes. The Mercedes GT Concept was just showed in Geneva which just adds up to everybody’s surprise on how quickly is Mercedes trying to give a competitor to the Porsche’s Panamera. What adds to the overall surprise is the fact that this prototype is wearing what appears to be a finished production body (although in the images iT has a crazy amount of camo on). You can also see a bump (or a hump if you like) on the back of the car but that is probably to make you wonder, and it will most likely come off when the people over at Affalterbach reveal the vehicle in its final suit.

As I already mentioned the AMG GT sedan concept from Mercedes is out on a mission to beat the Porsche Panamera in every way possible. Although it does not have an official name yet, it has more than stylish, elegant and slick design that seems to mirror the one on GT Concept, and when I say mirror, it appears that it has adopted the GT’s gold brake calipers as well. Those of you who have seen the GT Concept live at Geneva can see that the headlights design has a lot in common with those on the Geneva show car, while the back end hosts broad taillights that have remained faithful to those we saw on the concept.

While reading this most of you are probably thinking “what is going to power it?”. Well, we believe that a sure bet would be AMG’s biturbo 4.0 L V8 that is offered in the two-door models with different outputs. As you know, this unit delivers 577 HP and 516 lb-ft (700 Newton-meters) of torque in the flagship GT-R, but do not think that this is all that this unit has to offer. If you recall the strongest iteration of that engine churns out 603 HP and 627 lb-ft (850 Nm) in the E63 S. Since the people over at Mercedes are all about future, we could easily expect a hybridized version of the 4.0 L unit as seen in the concept. That electric motor is mounted at the back and in combo with the petrol one up front it delivers a combined output of mind-bursting 805 HP (600 kW), and God only knows how much lb-ft of twist. That combo right there will rocket you from standing position to 60 mph (0-96 kph) in less than three seconds.

Release Date

By all standards we think that the ever-growing Mercedes-AMG GT family will enlarge by one more member by sometime in 2018, and if we had to specify that, we believe it will happen after the launch of the all-new CLS.

My name is Miloš Kalajdžić and I come from Brčko DC in Bosnia. I was born on July 20 th 1988 and so far I obtained a BSc in economics and one year of working experience in my field of study. I am a very hard-working person who leaves nothing unfinished and halfway done. When I commit to something I give my best to make sure that everything is done the way as it is supposed to be. I like cars and everything that comes with them. My passion are American muscle cars, but unfortunately the closest I managed to come near one is behind my laptop watching an image of the new Chevy or Dodge and writing about it. But that’s ok I’m still optimistic. When I’m not behind the laptop writing I’m on the streets and auto shows admiring all stuff rolling on four wheels being propelled by a petrol engine!
