2017 Jeep Compass Has Improved Drastically

Many people would agree that the old Jeep Compass was not the greatest vehicle available on the market. The American carmaker just used their not-so-good Dodge Caliber and produced an SUV out of it. However, cars like Cherokee and Renegade are something that the public and the fans want to see. The company has introduced the new 2017 Jeep Compass at the LA Auto Show, and the vehicle has improved significantly.

Engine and Transmission

Jeep decided to change the engine first, so the new Compass comes with a 2.4-liter Tigershark I4 which can also be seen in Renegade and Cherokee. This engine replaced a very weak 2.0-liter four-cylinder rated at 158 hp, and not much better option the 2.4-liter unit that was good for 172 hp. The new powerplant will deliver 180 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque, and it will be mated to the transmission you choose. The automaker offers a six-speed automatic or manual gearbox for FWD variants. However, if you opt for an AWD, it will bring a nine-speed automatic, but in case you are hard-core manual transmission fan, you can still pick it together with an AWD option which is great news for the off-road fanatics.

First of all, the FCA’s Uconnect infotainment system will be offered in the new model. Note that the 2017 Jeep Compass has improved in every aspect compared to the previous version. It will also have a larger display, the 7.0-inch one on the base model and 8.4-inch display which are available on upper trim levels. It is possible that either a 7-inch digital dashboard will be featured or it could offer a 3.5-inch information display in the gauge cluster.

Moreover, the future drivers will get to enjoy Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some of the safety features that will make its way to the new 2017 Jeep Compass are blind spot monitoring and forward collision warning. This is not all as the list continues with autonomous emergency braking and rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and a safety backup camera.
