The 2017 Honda CR-V is out and on the international market for some time now, but its introduction date for the Asian continent (India) is still unknown. Asian spec of this model is about to be revealed officially and ahead of it debut some features regarding its diesel powertrain have emerged, and naturally, we felt it is right to give our readers a heads up!

The current CR-V that is on sale in India is offered with a petrol powertrain only, but thankfully the next gen vehicle will change that, and you will have an option of a diesel unit which is in the mix now. That oil burner will be a 1.6-liter DTEC unit capable of producing 158 HP and delivering quite healthy 350 lb-ft of torque. The transmission that is going to handle this engine will be a ZF nine-speed automatic gearbox.

The petrol engine, on the other hand, will most likely be taken from the ongoing version, meaning that it will be a 2.4 L i-VTEC unit producing 184 HP along with 244 lb-ft of torque. This one will be attached to a six-speed manual transmission. What is yet another good news is the fact that Honda is going to offer 4×4 drivetrains.

Besides this engine update, let us share some of the old info in case you missed them. The 2017 Honda CR-V will be based on the new Honda Civic platform which will make it 1.2 inches longer, 1.4 inches wider and 1.4 inches taller than the current generation. Thanks to this the wheelbase will increase as well, and it will offer around 1.6 inches more space, which means more room inside of the already spacious cabin.

The exterior of the vehicle, although tweaked to an extent, in some areas reminds a lot on the current gen CR-V, but that can be disregarded as it is not a bad thing. Similar things happen when you sit inside the cabin, that now, by the way, has an all new layout. Besides the new design, it also comes with a lot of new tech bits and pieces like 7-inch touch-screen display, keyless entry, auto headlights, six-speaker sound system, a rearview camera, sunroof, additional USB port, heated front seats and Smartphone app connectivity.

Among other features, we have 8-way power driver seat, automatic dual-zone climate control, a rearview auto-dimming mirror, heated side mirrors, roof rails, a leather upholstery, HD and satellite radio, and a blind-spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert. Can you say – loaded to the max!?
