It seems that the previous news about 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor doing everything it can to drop its weight and increase HP have proven correct because now we have checked-out numbers that are going to glorify the new truck.

Reports suggest that the Ford found a way to shed some weight from its most famous pickup truck but without making it unstable or unsafe! They have confirmed that this one will be a serious step up from the previous V8 Raptor. If you are asking how much better, well here are the numbers.

Thanks to a custom version of Ford’s new 3.5 L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 with its special set of turbochargers, oil cooled pistons, dual exhaust and other performance updates from Ford’s Performance division this Baja-blasting high-performance monster will output remarkable 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. A serious upgrade from ongoing V8 F-150 Raptor’s 411 hp and 434 lb-ft. This was greatly assisted with a 500 pounds weight reduction from the aluminum body of the base truck.

What was never a strong side of Ford’s Raptor models is the fuel economy, and reportedly it has been improved slightly. EPA rated it at 16 MPG an increase of 3 MPG from the previous one, but this is in part thanks to weight reduction and in part thanks to a new 10-speed automatic transmission which helps a lot in this department. Anyone who bought this vehicle didn’t think about MPG ratings because that is not why Raptor is made for. With its huge tires and ground clearance, it is made to blast you through the desert, or climb you up that rocky hill, and make you smile all the way while doing it. This has a price, and in this case, it is the fuel economy, plus it is slightly pricier than the base F-150 model.

While I already mentioned the ground clearance, it is good to know that the Three-inch Fox Racing Shox have 11.2-inches of travel in front and a full foot at the rear which makes this truck as close to factory trophy truck as you can ever get. The transmission and AWD driving system have six driving modes and they incorporate everything from normal street driving to rock crawling, mudding and the Baja mode made to blast you trough the desert. One thing that is going to strike you a little is its $49,520 price tag that will embellish it when the sales start later this year.
