Dodge has allowed the entire automotive world to have a look-see at the all-wheel drive Challenger GT, and they surely have picked the best time for it – when the snow has started falling in most of the States. This new model will allow its buyers to experience the joy of muscle car but with additional security thanks to extra traction available if and when the road gets slick.

2017 Dodge Challenger Release Date and Price

Thanks to info that leaked from the Environmental Protection Agency, we now know that the Challenger GT will be exclusively available with a 3.6 L V6 and eight-speed automatic gearbox attached. The engine will offer 305 HP and 268 lb-ft of torque, with fuel economy estimated at 18/27/21 mpg city/highway/combined respectively. The Challenger GT will use the same AWD technology that is found in the existing Dodge Charger AWD, meaning that the setup includes active transfer case with the possibility for front axle to be disconnected when the power isn’t necessary for front wheels. Under normal conditions, all the power goes to the rear wheels as usual.

Unfortunately, the Challenger GT, design-guise, isn’t any different than other versions in the lineup. Standard exterior features also remain unchanged and include fog lights, a small rear spoiler, and 19-inch wheels with all-season performance tires. Interior is equipped with heated and ventilated seats with Nappa leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and an 8.4-inch infotainment system. Apparently, all is in the spirit of the winter season over at Dodge. For additional $995 you can proudly own optional GT Interior package that will bring you seats with a mix of Nappa leather and Alcantara, a nine-speaker stereo, and more performance-like steering wheel.

To the true muscle car enthusiasts, a V8 with AWD would be more favorable, but the 305 HP V6 is more than good when you compare it to other AWD coupes especially in its price range. Just to give you a clear picture 2017 Dodge Challenger GT AWD has more power and costs less than the currently available Audi A5 with 217 HP, BMW 430i xDrive with 248 HP, Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic Coupe at 241 HP. It also easily trumps Infiniti Q60 with both the 208 HP 2.0 L turbocharged four cylinder and 300 HP bi-turbo 3.0 L V6. Amazing right!?
