DeLorean Motor Company from Texas overhauled one of the most famous cars that ever appeared in the movies. If you are a fan of “Back to the Future”, you car pre-order the new 2017 DMC-12, by filling out an application online.

However, some details about the vehicle such as standard and optional features are still unknown. Be that as it may, the application is non-binding and you don’t need to pay any money in advance. Filling out the application will give you the priority over the public, but if you already own a version of DMC, your chances will increase even more.

John Z. DeLorean gave the idea for the vehicle, whereas it was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and assembled by Lotus. Renault, Volvo and Peugeot joined together to produce a weak V6 unit. The DMC-12 appeared for the first time in 1981. Since then, the company in Northern Ireland produced about 9,200 cars.

DeLorean was charged with drug trafficking and later imprisoned and because of that, the company couldn’t raise funding which eventually led it to bankruptcy. Although not many models have been produced, the car has always had faithful fans. It appeared in three parts of “Back to the Future”.

The new DMC-12 is far from ready. New chassis prototype is expected to be completed next month, whereas it is still unknown who will provide an engine. We only hope that it will be more powerful that the original unit which produced 130 hp.

The production of the first car lasted almost ten years and once the car is in the production line, we will see one model per month, according to the company. The predicted price is about $100,000, but we will wait for the official confirmation. So far, we know that buyers can pick between a manual or automatic gearbox.

Stay tuned for additional details.
