Just when you thought that Chrysler gave up on the minivan segment, the same segment that saved the company nearly three decades ago, they decided to introduce new Pacifica. Destiny, or…? The company decided to revive the almost forgotten nameplate which was back in time associated with a swollen up crossover-like vehicle. Fortunately for all of us pretty much the only thing that 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has with its predecessor is its name.

The minivan segment is going to be revived again, and that is definitely thanks to Pacifica which will directly replace Chrysler’s Town & Country as well as Dodge’s Grand Caravan which is slowly being phased out anyway. With the Pacifica, Chrysler decided not to make a base model at all because the entry level version will be offered with a heap of equipment as well as a hi-tech nine-speed automatic gearbox and a 3.6 L V6 petrol engine. But wait something here is familiar! The 9-speed transmission is something everybody hated in Chrysler vehicles, but thankfully they decided to address it and retune it especially for the 2017 Pacifica.
The Pacifica LX is also nicely equipped and comes somewhere under $30,000, where the front and second-row passengers sit in very comfortable captain’s chairs while the third row is a conventional bench. Since the Chrysler is a king of the minivan packaging, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the second and third rows both tumble away into the van’s floor easily which creates enough space to haul a full-size plywood. But space was never their problem, the design was. Thankfully Chrysler addressed this issue as well, and the design of the 2017 Pacifica is far more appealing than before.
The company is offering a range of models with the Limited edition that can even give Range Rover a run for its money. Well, not literally but it comes pretty closely with screens that include games for second-row passengers, particularly strong vacuum, hands-free power sliding doors and tailgate, and luxurious Nappa leather which makes its interior a sophisticated place to be during those long family journeys. They even made sure that kids stay satisfied with HDMI and USB ports scattered around the cabin for charging their devices as well as watching videos.
Thanks to the effort that company put into the minivan segment lately, especially into the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, there is a huge chance that they will rewrite the history of the market with it. It has a special blend of practicality, refinement, and comfort which are bound to help it win the 2017 Best Car to Buy award. We just have to wait and see.
